There isnt a person on the planet that doesnt suffer from a bad dream once in a while. Sometimes it can be as mildly upsetting as getting bad news in the mail, other times it can be terrifying. Some people even suffer from bad dreams on a consistent basis. If you are having a problem with bad dreams, here are some tips that you can that will help you control bad dreams.

 

 

The first thing you want to try is simply controlling them with your mind. There are two ways you can do this. The first way you want to try is to simply tell your brain to send you different messages. Talk to your brain before you go to bed and let it know that the messages you are receiving are not acceptable. Ask for new messages. Tell yourself, and your subconscious, that the dreams you are having are not solving your problems, and you would like new messages or symbols that will.

 Another way you can use your mind to control bad dreams is to try and do so when you are in the dream. Many people will have nightmares, and during the nightmare they will realize this horrible thing that is happening is only a dream. When this happens, you want to do the thing that scares you the most in the dream. In other words, confront your fears, confront the nightmare. These symbols will be intimidated by your courage to do so. If you are being chased for example, stop running and face the object that is chasing you. See what happens. Keep doing this, eventually your brain and subconscious will realize that the nightmare is not having the desired effect, because you are beating it!

 

 

Lastly, you want to set the stage for a good sleep. The best way to do this is to have a regular routine every night before you go to bed. Do not deviate from this. It doesnt have to be extensive, just a few minor steps you take every night to slowly tell your body you are winding down. Try not to watch too much TV before bed, and you also want to avoid exercising very close to bedtime. Put on some soothing sounds like rainforests or whatever will work for you. The more often your body gets that you are relaxing into bedtime, the sooner you will be able to control bad dreams
